2016-2017 Pleasant Grove Hope Squad
Pleasant Grove High School (Utah) Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer support group and suicide prevention team, working under the direction of Ruth Stanton McAtee, following the program created by Greg Hudnall and Hope4Utah. This video, created by PGHS Hope Squad member Keaden Meacham, shows the 2016-17 PGHS Hope Squad members. The first minute shows all of them participating in a mannequin challenge. After that, they relax and show you what brings each of them hope!
WHAT IS A HOPE SQUAD?
HOPE Squads are the eyes and ears of your school. They are comprised of students who are trained to watch for at-risk students–provide friendship, identify warning signs, and seek help from adults. HOPE4UTAH works with school advisors to train students who have been identified by their classmates as trustworthy peers to serve as HOPE Squad members. Through evidence-based training modules, HOPE Squad members are empowered to seek help and save a life. HOPE Squad members are NOT taught to act as counselors, but rather, are educated on how to recognize signs of suicide contemplation, and how to properly and respectfully report this to an adult.
" While it takes an entire village to raise a child, it takes the whole community to save one. "
